Below we have summarised some of our key team members and their individual areas of experience and expertise.

 
Mike Matthews MSC, BSc (Hons), CWEM
(Director/Principal Consultant)

Mike’s former role as an Enforcement Officer with the National Rivers Authority (now the Environment Agency) means he is well qualified in relation to the collation of evidence for problems that could lead to Civil and Criminal Legal Action, and is also well versed in Agency requirements and protocol. His particular areas of technical experience relate to Due Diligence, Trade Effluents, Soil and Groundwater Contamination, and Impact of Effluents or Releases on Controlled Waters.
   
 
Jill Jones BSc (Hons), FCIWEM, CEnv
(Director/Principal Consultant)

Prior to joining Peak, Jill was both an Enforcement Officer, then a Scientific Officer for a UK regulator. She was also a consultee for the HSE and ODPM to the 2005 COMAH Regulations. This background gives Jill the expertise to specialise in Contaminated Land Surveys, IPPC Licensing and Consents, Due Diligence Auditing, Negotiations with Regulatory Bodies to Mitigate Legal Action, and Compliance with Environmental Legislation and Guidelines.
   
 
Paul Palgrave Bsc (Hons), MSc, ARSM, FGS
(Director/Principal Consultant)

Paul joined Peak Associates in December 2008 to lead and develop the Midlands Office of Peak Associates. He has over 20 years experience working in consultancy on the investigation and remediation of contaminated land. He has a BSc in Geology from Imperial College and an MSc in Hydrogeology from Birmingham University, and specialises in Quantitative Risk Assessment in relation to contaminated soil and groundwater. He is also involved in a research project at Lancaster University related to the assessment of soil contamination.
   
 
Elaine Wood BSc (Hons), AIEMA
(Senior Consultant)
Elaine joined Peak in September 2005, after working as a Senior Advisor at the Environmental Regeneration Charity Groundwork UK. Elaine’s main areas of expertise are the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS), the Provision of Environmental Advice, Training and on-site support to improve Environmental Performance, carrying out Environmental Audits, Due Diligence Audits and Diagnosis of Environmental Performance.
   
 
Colin Cheal
(Senior Consultant)

A recent addition to the team, Colin joins Peak with 30years experience in Wastewater and Sewage, including work at the North West Water Authority. Colin’s role at Peak is to strengthen our Wastewater Treatment Team and his previous experience allows him to provide advice on solutions to issues to help maintain good relationships between our client and the environmental regulators.
   
 
Ben Taylor BSc (Hons)
(Acting Senior)
Ben joined Peak as a graduate with a First Class honours degree in Earth Sciences from Durham University. Ben helped develop Peak’s Monitoring and Investigation programmes as a member of the Graduate Team, and has developed into a Senior role in much of his current work. Ben’s main focus areas within the team are Contaminated Land, Contract Supervision and Wastewater Treatment.
   
 
Matthew Brennan MPhysGeog
(Consultant/Site Engineer)
Matt joined Peak as a graduate with a Master’s degree in Physical Geography from Hull University. Progressing from the graduate role, Matt now acts as a consultant and site engineer on a number of projects to ensure smooth running of site operations and supervise contractors. Matt’s main focus areas within the team are Contaminated Land, Contract Supervision, Drainage Studies and Effluent Plant Monitoring.
   
 
Jo Hales BSc (Hons)
(Graduate Consultant)
Jo is a recent addition to the team at Peak, her role as graduate consultant currently has her working with a number of effluent monitoring and investigation projects and working with the senior consultants on larger projects to ensure that work is completed efficiently and within the budget agreed with the client.
   
 
Leigh Rowland
(Operations and Quality Manager)

Leigh’s role at Peak is to support the consulting staff to ensure that projects are run efficiently and that the quality of work is maintained at the highest standard. Leigh also organises the efficient use of staff resources between ongoing jobs to ensure that all projects are completed on time with no compromise in the standard of work produced.
   
 
Scott Dale
(Technical Assistant)

Scott provides a supporting role to the consultants at Peak to assist with site work and complete administration work on projects such as preparation of plans and reports. Currently Scott has worked on a number of Drainage Studies, Effluent Plant Monitoring projects and Contaminated Land Investigations.
   
 
Kay Turley
(Finance and Admin)

Kay supports Peak’s consultants by handling project organisation work and controlling the budgets and invoicing to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and provide the highest quality results at the best price for our clients.
