Having recently undergone a reassessment of our Investors in People status, Peak Associates have now been informed that not only did we meet the standards that allow us to maintain our status, but we also obtained further accreditation to achieve the Bronze award. In the feedback received, it was noted that Peak Associates has faced the challenges of the economic downturn by "continuing to offer a bespoke and sometimes complex offer of services to its clients...offering rapid but high quality service wherever possible...The Directors are positioning the organisation as best they can for growth" with "...a proactive approach to new business opportunity and delivery". It was also highlighted that "The organisation recognises that best practise and continuous improvement is a 'journey rather than a destination'". Equally significant was the fact that due to the achievements and culture of team work, people "...take a great pride in their work and feel that Peak Associates is a great place to work".
As match sponsors at Warrington Town FC on 12th November, Peak Associates helped to organise and support a bucket collection to raise money for the sponsored walk undertaken by local school children in aid of Children in Need. For more information see the Warrington Town FC website
Peak Associates have successfully tendered for Drainage Investigations & Feasibility study of
options for Improved Sewage treatment at National Trust, Packwood House.
The investigations carried out by Peak Associates Environmental Consultants Ltd
identified that the existing septic tanks were of insufficient size and
inappropriate design to be incorporated into the design of
a new treatment system to serve the property. Options for the replacement of the
existing treatment for one, which is compliant with Environmental legislation, have been provided.

rebate for £11,850.17 for fees paid to United Utilities in
the 2010/11 charging year. For more information see our case study on surface water.

Peak Associates are pleased to announce that one of their most senior directors, Jill Jones, has now completed
the Management of CDM Co-ordination course and has been accepted on the approved CDM-C list by the Association of Project Safety.
This means we can now offer clients a full CDM service for the design and construction phase of environmental projects. Coupled with Jill's
extensive experience, this demonstrates Peak's commitment to continue to deliver the highest quality 'one stop' service for clients.
Peak Associates have provided advice to a number of schools and
business
across the northwest following the full implementation of site area charging by United Utilities, a scheme which charges businesses
for surface water drainage based on the size of their site.
The most recent result in this was for a school in Ellesmere Port
(Cheshire) which made an annual saving of £21,700
per year on this charge.
Peak Associates are currently involved in
the permitting process for a small-scale renewable energy
scheme to provide heat and power to a cafe and shop via solar power,
ground source heat pump and hydropower. This scheme is
proposed to provide clean, renewable energy to the site, with the
possibility of surplus energy being sold back to the national
grid. Peak Associates have been involved in negotiation and
investigation of this scheme with the Environment Agency's team to
ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Much of our work is in areas where legislation and regulation is
continuing to develop and in several cases is at the forefront of UK
environmental policy, recently Mike Matthews
has met with Ed Milliband (when climate change secretary) and Ed Balls during
the Labour leadership campaign in order to discuss how to grow the UK's
green economy. Mike has also worked with Tim Farron, a former spokesperson for the Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs and now Lib Dem MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, with
regards to a number of local environmental issues including the floods which
occurred in the Cockermouth area of Cumbria.
Mike Matthews, one of the
top 100 donors, has been offered, and accepted, a post as Visiting
Teaching Fellow at the University of Lancaster. In addition to
this, the University has also provided Mike with an increased office
space, where he is planning to further develop the services provided by
Peak Associates and further research environmental issues through the
University.
Mike Matthews is also a board member of
the Lancaster Environment Centre which is part of Lancaster University. In addition
to taking occassional tutorial groups, Mike has recently been asked to become a teaching
fellow at the University. Developing the UK's exports in green economy also led to Mike Matthews and Jill Jones, attended the Eco-Expo Asia
event in 2009 with Lancaster's team in Hong Kong to meet with key companies
and government representatives to establish and improve
understanding of good environmental practice. |
